Sticks, architectural singularity in Andorra

Located in Plaça Príncep Benlloch in the heart of Andorra la Vella, the emblematic Casa Cintet accommodates the new offices of Jordi Junyer Ricart notary public. The building, that dates back to 1843 and was the first important shopping centre in the country, has recently been refurbished by the architectural firm Orteu Riba Arquitectes. Inspired by the original, the new layout takes the style one step further while the lighting solutions by Vibia give the interior design a sophisticated air.

The main façade of the mansion is an enclosing wall that has several openings and stone niches illuminated with warm, indirect light, while the rear façade, characterised by an arcade of arched openings, recreates the building’s historical and patrimonial values.

Simplicity, serenity and elegance define the interior design of the notary public’s office. Its workspaces are finished in shades of grey and white, and its lighting is even thanks to Sticks hanging lamp.

Designed in pure graphic lines, it contributes to the perception of a range of visual patterns and light compositions created by its minimalistic aluminium rods that fracture the spatial planes.

Designed by Arik Levy, Sticks is a highly versatile lamp that allows light to be customised, combined in all directions — extending from wall to wall, from wall to ceiling or from floor to wall, into corners that can, on occasion, be challenging.

In one of the office rooms, the overlaid angles of this hanging lamp immediately catch the gaze of the notary’s clients, affording the space both architectural singularity and a sense of calm.

Both the meeting/signing rooms and the notary public’s office combine the neutrality of ceramic floors and facing concrete ceilings with elegant wooden batten furniture in dark tones. These features, along with the linear illumination provided by the Sticks structures that float over the tables, bring personality to the noblest spaces.

‘The client’s request for different meeting/signing rooms arranged around a central reception space allowed us to create versatile open spaces and explore the relationship between the two façades with their distinctive features.’
